SOF Rentals was founded in 2016 as an alternative lodging option for those in the SOF Community traveling to the Fort Bragg area on TDY Travel Orders. There has always been those who prefer a home to a hotel, and there are those that prefer hotels. As time has ticked on though, it has gotten harder and harder for travelers to afford quality hotel lodging. In 2014 the Department of Defense revised the Joint Travel Regulations to mandate that travelers who stayed longer than 30 days at any one location would have their Lodging, and Meals & Incidentals per diems cut by 25% (and by another 20% if staying longer than 180 days)! Unfortunately, the DOD can not force restaurants to cut their prices, and hotels, likewise, are reluctant to cut into their bottom line by such a significant amount to accommodate TDY travelers! Additionally, in July 2016, the DOD designated Fort Bragg as an Integrated Lodging Pilot Program (ILPP) location, which made it even harder for some travelers to secure off-post lodging. But, with every obstacle, we have increased our efforts and commitment to help the SOF community travel on their own terms, and we aim to give them an option that we hope will not only leave them with a great place to stay, but also put more money back in their pockets (whether staying at 100% or 75%) through options like grocery shopping, free on-site laundry, and complimentary SOF Rentals membership cards to SAM's Club and BJ's Warehouse.
